Of Planets and Karma

Mercury is in retrograde and to sort of celebrate it, I went through some of my entries in my old blog. Boy, was I cheesy then!

Anyway, I revisited my #boysfromlongago tag and maybe thought I could do an update on that. Like a lot of them are married now too. And it’s a perfect topic for Mercury Retrograde, don’t you think?

Yeah, so here goes.

1. We hadn’t spoken to each other since we broke up years ago. But you made sure to get in touch when I passed the bar. You said you’d been waiting for my name for years and when you finally saw it—you said you felt as much pride as you would probably have if we were still together.

2. You never really went away. You came to see me at one point before we both got married. You said it would probably be the last as I was hard to explain to your fiancé. We are both happily married now but I can’t help but wonder what you meant with “hard to explain” and if I should be offended.

3-4. You two have always been the smart ones and I would compensate by saying you were out of touch. I haven’t heard from either of you in years. But sometimes I wish you could see me now just so I can rub it in your faces that I’m the one working your dream jobs.

5. Of all these boys, you are the one I miss most as a friend. Because we really were and probably better of as friends. I can’t change the past but for what it’s worth, you would have been my man of honor.

Funny how these “updates” range in themes—from peaceful closure, to intellectual spite, to wistful would’ves. With such an emotional range that I have no problem accessing for content, I say my heart deserves all the peace it has now.

On another but somewhat similar note, I love the fact that should my husband find this, it wouldn’t be an issue since he knows all about these guys anyway. You can bet our love is stronger than any retrograde.
